iOS 5 Web App Development—Now Technically Ready
In the beginning iOS devices were not ready for web apps as hardware acceleration was not exist and support for overflow:scroll or position:fixed was not there to create decent web apps. Moreover iOS SDKs were not powerful enough to support web apps development. In fact Apple was working on such supporting technologies for the web apps development but everything were half-backed.
With release of iOS 5 developers got surprises as now iOS 5 web app development was easy and the latest SDK was equipped with all needed arsenals for web app development. Now WebKit is the most powerful instruments for web apps development with feature rich mobile browser to erase the line between native and web app. Now latest browser was capable to support hardware acceleration as well as iScroll and other JS scrollers to meet the equality with native scrolling experiences.
Later on Nirto appeared as new technology but the product was again half-backed so still we were not ready for fully web apps experiences. Now withiOS 5 app development we can say that we are ready for full native like experiences with web apps. Now overflow:scroll and position:fixed is working as well as cool WebKit-overflow-scrolling:touch CSS property is a savor for iOS 5 web app development. If we go along with webGL we are nearly get support of all hardware as well as OS supports for iOS 5 and further advance versions of iOS.
If we want completely replace the native apps with web apps we should have some more advance browser and if Apple will get at some point of time it might be liberate iOS developers from App store and will get more supporting apps for its devices and will sell more devices than today.
